Sorry it's been so long! My computer was out for cleaning and then I got caught up in the beginning of the school year. A few weeks ago my dad bought me some fabric from a tag sale. There were five pieces of knit all between 1 1/4 yards and 3 yards and all of various colors. I selected this bubblegum pink thick knit to make a pleated skirt as my autumn wardrobe is currently limited to jeans and sweaters. I have this pattern from 1967 that I received from my grandmother that had a nice pleated option. The pattern was a 26" waist so I altered it slightly to fit my 29" waist. That also meant doing something to the skirt panels in order to keep the pleats easy. I simply moved the two pieces meant to be cut on the fold about an inch away from the fold. This gave me the added inches to be able to fit the panels to the skirt no problem. I embroidered a carnation onto the waistband using my mom's machine. I wore this skirt with a shirt that is also of my own creation. I made it by modifying a dress pattern that I had and only making the bodice. I did lengthen the bodice but in retrospect, I will lengthen it even further next time. It is only waist length and only works when I wear it with natural waist skirts. |
